Marlborough City Council sends $222.9 million FY27 budget to Finance Committee

MARLBOROUGH — May 4, 2026 — Marlborough councilors refer $222.9 million FY27 budget to Finance Committee, set May 18 hearing. The City Council voted 9-0 Monday to send Mayor J. Christian Dumais's proposed $222,882,585 fiscal 2027 operating budget — a 4.24 percent increase over FY26 — to the Finance Committee, which Chair John J. Irish said will meet May 11, 12 and 13 at 6:30 p.m. Dumais's transmittal letter cites a $2.08 million increase for Marlborough Public Schools, $1.6 million more for school health insurance, $1.05 million more for city health and life insurance, and a $1.49 million jump in the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School assessment. Councilors also accepted a permanent Exchange Street easement from 57 Main Street Owner LLC by an 8-0-1 vote, with Ward 3 Councilor Robert Preciado recused, and approved $5,920.47 and $2,368.94 state grants for the Fire Department's SAFE and Senior SAFE programs.
