World Cup fan zone and youth sports registrations highlight Marlborough's summer sports calendar.
MARLBOROUGH -- The city is preparing to host a three-day FIFA World Cup fan zone at Kelleher Field in June, according to the Marlborough Patch, part of a statewide celebration tied to the 2026 tournament. Marlborough and Franklin previously received a share of $10 million in state funding to support fan zone festivities.
TOWN -- Marlborough Recreation Sports has open registration for youth basketball and soccer for children in grades Pre-K through 5. Families can register online, sign waivers, and select shirt sizes. All events are held at Marlborough Elementary School, 41 Fitch Court. Volunteer and coaching opportunities are also available. The Maroon Club is listed as a program contributor. Separately, the city's Finance Committee voted June 15 to refer a proposed salary ordinance to the city solicitor covering four positions, including the Recreation Director and Assistant Recreation Director. If approved following legal review and advertising, the ordinance would take effect August 1, 2026.
