Personnel Committee advances Gogan as fire chief, three commission picks
MARLBOROUGH — March 2, 2026 — Marlborough's Personnel Committee unanimously advanced Assistant Chief Jeffrey Gogan for a five-year term as fire chief. Gogan, a 25-year department veteran and lifelong resident nominated by Mayor J. Christian Dumas, told councilors the department logged more than 9,200 calls last year — its busiest ever — and is meeting the NFPA four-minute response standard in the new west-side District 4 only about 33 percent of the time, making a west-side fire station and officer succession planning his top priorities. "I'm not doing my job if I'm not reporting to you as the chief to say, you know, this is what could happen if we don't," Gogan said. The committee also recommended Pamela McNair and a second resident for the Commission on Disabilities and veterinarian Dr. Karen Patti for the Board of Health, sending all four appointments to the full council.
